Nature Positive Materials, Circular Economy
Xampla has developed an alternative to single-use plastics with Morro™ materials – plastic-free coatings and films that are made from plants and which biodegrade safely in any environment. Their mission is to eliminate single-use plastic through tackling the largest driver of plastic pollution: packaging.
Unlike conventional packaging, which often hides invisible plastic linings or toxic forever chemicals, Morro™ materials are made from natural plant polymers with no chemical modification. They are home-compostable, biodegradable in all environments including seawater, and fully compatible with recycling systems, offering a truly sustainable alternative. These materials provide a drop-in solution for some of the most polluting plastics in everyday food consumption and Xampla have a pledge to replace 10 billion items of single-use plastic, including plastic linings found in takeaway boxes, coffee cups and sachets.
Based on research at the University of Cambridge, Xampla brings together a team of scientists, engineers, and innovators to replace plastics with the power of natural plant polymers. Xampla is scaling fast with industry partners, proving that the future of packaging can be plastic-free, circular, and safe for nature.
